Dara Khosrowshahi



Dara Khosrowshahi is the CEO of Uber, where he manages the company’s fast-growing business in nearly 65 countries around the world and leads a global team of more than 18,000 employees.

His family founded the Alborz Investment Company, a diversified conglomerate involved in pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food, distribution, packaging, trading, and services.


Dara was previously CEO of Expedia, where he grew the company into one of the world’s largest online travel companies. Dara was promoted to Expedia CEO after serving as the Chief Financial Officer of IAC Travel. Dara served as Vice President of Allen & Company and spent a number of years as an analyst.


Dara grew up in Tarrytown, NY and received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Brown University.

Family, hobby

In 2012, Khosrovshahi married Sidney Shapiro. The couple calls themselves “sci-fi-geeky.” At a wedding in Las Vegas, the bride was dressed not in a wedding dress, but in a T-shirt with the heavy metal logo Slayer. Now the couple have four children. In addition, Khosrovshakhi – an avid geek.
